GAME GUN WITH CASE & ACCESSORIES. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 23905 (Mfg. 1903). The 28" chopper lump bbls. are fitted w/ narrow swamped game rib w/ scroll engraving at rear which is also gold inlaid "1". "1" Also appears on top lever & forend tip. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ original London nitro proofs & 1999 reproofs for 2 3/4" chambers & "SLEEVED". Case hardened royal sidelock action features automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold) Gold line in tumbler end cocking indicators & Holland & Holland single trigger which fires right bbl. then left. If heavier choke is desired, pushing the trigger blade forward sets gun up to fire left bbl. only. Action & locks are engraved w/ classic Holland & Holland style full coverage varying sized shaded scroll within geometric borders surrounding classic "Holland & Holland" device on each lockplate. Bottom of action is engraved "Royal" "Hammerless" "Ejector". Balls of trigger plate are engraved "Patent" & "Single Trigger". Scroll engraved trigger guard has S# engraved on short tang. Very finely marbled & lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14" over ribbed horn buttplate. & features classic drop points, point pattern checkering on semi diamond hand & lg. vacant silver oval on toeline. Matching modified splinter "AB" ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .725", L .725". Restriction: R .013" (MOD), L .035" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .035", L .032". STOCK: DAH: 2 7/16". DAC: 1 11/16". LOP: 14". CAST: approx. 1/4" off. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 15 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in a vintage leather case w/ brass corners embossed "A. W. B." on top. Case is lined in dark green cloth & has repro. leather H&H label in lid. Case contains a leather covered hand protector, wiping cloth & two piece walnut & brass cleaning rod. CONDITION: fine as refurbished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a best London reblack done at time of sleeving w/ some minor subsequent flecking. Tube joints are very hard to see & maker's info has been removed from tops of bbls. Action & locks retain a considerable amount of their original muted case hardening color, difficult to see through extensive engraving. Top lever & trigger guard w/ traces of blue are mostly gray patina. Buttstock shows old oil refinish, possible replacement buttplate, newer large oval & recut checkering. Sharp edges of stock are somewhat rounded. Forend wood appears to have been reshaped toward tip to adj. for a chip in bbl. channel, checkering nicely modified. Bores are bright & shiny. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are strong & in time. Trigger seems to work well. Case leather is quite dark & shows a number of scrapes & rubs. Straps are good. The handle has partially detached. Interior cloth is good w/ some rubs through. Newer label is very fine. A solid, great handling gun that one could be proud to use for the next half century.
