Cal. 52, NSN. Standard configuration of the Simeon North contracted hinged breech carbine made 1844-1854, total of 10,000 made. Breech block marked: "U. S / S NORTH /MIDL'TN / CONN / 1849". Many of these obsolete carbines were in US armories and issued primarily to western theater troops, from Arkansas, Illinois, & Wisconsin. CONDITION: good to very good overall, appears complete and original, makers markings are good, inspection cartouche on right side of stock rear of breech is it visible in outline only. Metal has areas of pitting, mechanically functional, discernible multi groove rifling in bore. PROVENANCE: Lifelong collection of Robert "Mike" Bricker. (01-24925/JS). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
