Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 3934. The 30" Damascus dovetailed bbls. are engraved "J. D. Dougall Gun & Rifle Manufacturer to H. R. H. The Prince of Wales, 59 St. James's St. London" on broad slightly raised pigeon rib. Bbl. flats are stamped with London black powder proofs and "NOT FOR BALL" (pre-1891). Extra heavy side lever action is fitted with front spring rebounding locks having serpentine hammers. Action and locks are engraved with near full coverage well cut small scroll within scroll and feather borders. Maker's name is on each lockplate and water table is stamped "HIGHEST" (referring to quality). Trigger guard with scroll on bow has serial number on tang. Newly made straight grip buttstock of plain European walnut measures 14 1/4" over "Silver" type pad and features drop points and point pattern grip checkering. Splinter forend with original wood has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .731" L .731". Recess: R. 030". L .040". Restriction: R .005", L .002". Min. Wall Thickness: R .022" overall (.020" in recess), L .025" overall (.015" at top of recess). STOCK: DAH: 2 1/2". DAC: 1 1/2". LOP: 14 1/4". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 14 oz. CONDITION: good as refurbished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a reblue over pitting and Damascus pattern. Action cleaned to silver gray. New buttstock retains nearly all of its original oil finish. Forend refinished to match with checkering recut. Bores are bright but show general polishing overall with remnants of pitting visible throughout. Action is tight. Locks are good.
