Cal. 308 Win. S# G2148573. Bbl. 25 3/4" tapered heavy polished stainless by Clarence Hammonds with recessed target crown and band clamped front base for target sight. Mfg. approx. 1992 as push feed Model 70 action; likely entirely built by Clarence Hammonds of Red Lion, PA (retired) who was a noted benchrest shooter and superb gunsmith. Trigger is nickel plated Jewell model. Stock appears to be by McMillan that has adjustable cheekpiece and aluminum buttplate assembly (similar to a Morgan) with grooved Pachmayr buttpad. Black synthetic stock bedded with black bedding material giving a full floating barrel except for chamber area. Stock has pronounced pistol grip with palm swell; deep in magazine area plus inletted aluminum rail in forend. Quality black hand stop with push button release swivel and quick locking lever to secure its position. Finish appears to be matte black "splatter paint". Blind magazine and black alloy trigger housing milled for trigger clearance. Left rear of receiver fitted with target sight base. Standard Winchester wing safety on matching numbered bolt with jeweled body and bolt knob altered to accept its large black knob. All this rifle needs is sighting equipment and an enthusiastic target shooter. CONDITION: all aspects near excellent including bore. (25-3622/NW). MODERN. $650-900.
