SCENE ENGRAVING BY CREATIVE ART WITH CASE. Cal. 12 Ga. 3". S# 3511. The 26" demi-block barrels with narrow unmatted concave rib are engraved "IVO FABBRI -BRESCIA-" on left side of top barrel and "VACUUM ARC REMELTING STEEL" on right. Barrel flats are stamped with 1990 Italian nitro proofs for 3" chambers. Coin finished low profile O/U sidelock action features non-automatic safety, engraved line tumbler end cocking indicators and single non-selective trigger. Action is engraved with near full coverage very nicely cut small scroll with Billino scene of woodcock flitting through alder branches on bottom. Maker's name is on each side. Lockplates are fully game scene engraved to outside edges with very finely rendered bird scenes. Left lock portrays a capercaillie displaying on an alpine tree branch while two hens and a subordinate male look on. Right lock has open woodland scene of driven pheasant. These scenes are dramatically detailed and shaded. The portrait of a pointer is on trigger guard bow framed by more small scroll. "Creative Art" is on trigger plate along with the signature "G. Steduto" (Giovanni) one of the early engravers working for this fine firm. Very attractive, well marbled and lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-3/4" over fully checkered wood butt. Classic point pattern checkering is at grip and a vacant gold oval is on toeline. Matching one piece field type ejector forend has modified Anson type release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: O .726 U .726. Restriction: O .018 (Mod.) U .018 (Mod.). Wall thickness: O.032. U .031. STOCK: DAH: 2-7/16". DAC: 1-1/2"+. CAST: neutral. LOP: 14-3/4". WEIGHT: 7 lb. 0 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in a tan leather case with stitched leather corners by Nizzoli. A greenish yellow Ivo Fabbri label is in lid. Bottom compartment is semi-French fitted for barrel and action. No accessories are present. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. Barrels retaining over 98% original blue with some sharp edge wear noted on rib. Coin finish of action and lockplates remain bright without any noted cleaning. Stocks retain nearly all of their original finish with a few very light marks noted on most of buttstock with a 6mm loss of finish and a small 10mm abrasion on right side near butt. Checkering remains clean and sharp. Bores are bright and shiny without any visible problems. Action is tight; mechanically crisp. Case leather shows some water spots and areas of darkening with a good scattering of light marks and compressions overall. Interior cloth is very good to fine with some puckers in lid and some soiling from contact with gun in bottom compartment. A lovely example of one of the finest shotguns ever made. A scarce gun. Fabbri probably makes two target type guns to one field gun. (25-936/MGM). MODERN. $25,000-40,000.
