HIGH POWER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 6T2860. Bbl. 4 5/8". MK. I* semi-automatic pistol mfg. in Canada by Inglis during World War II. The left side of the slide is marked "MK. I*" above "BROWNING-F.N.9MM.H.P.", followed by "INGLIS, CANADA". Right side of the frame and slide exhibit Canadian proofing, with the bbl. exhibiting an electro-penciled Canadian proof. Front grip strap retains a mostly legible Canadian leaf decal. Metal components exhibit a parkerized finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black synthetic grips. Dovetailed blade front sight, with fixed square notch rear sight. Left side of the frame is mounted with a lanyard ring. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 2 parkerized 13-rd. mags., stamped "JI" on the body and split tail floorplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Canadian khaki canvas web holster, containing a cleaning rod and lanyard. Interior of closure flap is marked "Z.L. & T. LTD 1945". CONDITION: excellent, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original arsenal parkerized finish, exhibiting some superficial handling marks overall. Front of trigger guard bow exhibits an area of silvering, which appears to be the result of prior cleaning. Decal remains mostly legible, with scattered spots of flaking overall. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting a layer of grease, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips are very good, showing a few light superficial marks from handling and storage. Khaki canvas holster exhibits light wear, with some areas of age related discoloration, but otherwise is very good overall. A very nice example of a Canadian World War II Inglis MK. I* High Power pistol. PROVENANCE: the Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-271/MLW). CURIO. $2,000-2,500.
