POLICE CARBINE. Cal. 8x57 Mauser. S# 1313. All visible numbers match. Bbl. 17 3/8". Carbine is marked on top of the receiver ring with the crown "W." Marked on the right side with Belgian proofs. Left receiver rail is marked "FAB. NAT. D'ARMES DE GUERRE HERSTAL-BELGIQUE"; markings have been enhanced with white. Tangent rear sight, graduated to 1400 meters; inverted V front sight. Bright bolt assembly with turned-down bolt handle. Cleaning rod and bayonet bar are present. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked only with the serial number on the right side. Bottom swivels. Tan military sling with brass slide. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: German M98-K bayonet with 9 7/8" fullered blade. Blade is marked on the left ricasso "43asw." Pommel is marked with two "WAA51?." Smooth walnut grips retained by two screws. Matching steel scabbard. Bayonet has arsenal reblue finish with thinning and wear; the date has been removed from the top of the blade. Non-matching grips have light wear and staining. Scabbard has traces of blue turning gray in patina. CONDITION: stock set has a very good appearance, with light wear and scattered handling marks. Metal with light wear retains 80% of its original blue, including fire blue on the bolt stop. Crest has a sharp, crisp appearance. Bright, shiny bore with sharp lands.
