SERIES I TYPE 14 NAMBU SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 8mm Nambu. S# 80623. Bbl. 4 9/16". Type 14 Nambu semi-automatic pistol mfg. at the Toriimatsu arsenal under Nagoya supervision in June of 1943. The left side of the frame exhibits Kanji characters denoting the model designation, with the Nagoya arsenal insignia, Series I symbol, S#, and the Showa date code "18.6" marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall, as is correct for Toriimatsu production Type 14s. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved wood grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and integral square frame notched rear sight. Large pattern trigger guard with grooved cocking knob. Matching numbers are present on the frame, mag. release button, bbl. extension, bolt, as well as the locking block. Trigger guard (S#: 126), cocking knob (S#: 192), and grips (L: 8619 / R: 8417) are mismatched, with remaining components being unnumbered. MAGS: x1 non-matching (S#: 720) blued steel 8-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory salt blue finish, showing some light edge wear, as well as some light superficial handling marks overall. Trigger guard shows areas of wear and thinning that are fading to brown patina, which are mostly visible when viewed beneath a light. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips are very good, exhibiting some superficial handling marks and impressions from handling and storage. An extremely attractive example of a Toriimatsu Series I production Type 14 Nambu pistol. (25-6573/MLW). CURIO. $700-1,100.
