CODE P.08 LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 5186n. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser in 1937. The top of the bbl. extension is marked with the 4-digit year of mfg. "1937" over the chamber, with Mauser Eagle/63 proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "S/42" mfg. code. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Dovetailed blade front sight, with fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, rear toggle pin, as well as the grips. MAGS: 1 non-matching (S# 4654q) blued 8-rd. with aluminum bottom, marked with a Mauser Eagle/63 proof. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their original arsenal salt blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light to mild wear and thinning (predominately on the muzzle and edges), as well as some scattered superficial handling marks overall. Front grip strap exhibits scattered spots of light surface oxidation, with the rear grip strap exhibiting some light surface oxidation and areas of light surface level pitting. Very bright bore, exhibiting some areas of hardened grease and some light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show light smoothing, as well as a few superficial marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise very good overall. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-377/MLW).
