WITH SHEATH. Manufactured by Western Cutlery Co. during World War II. Blade measures 8", with a 13" overall length. Blued clip point blade features a 4 1/2" fuller on either side. Left side of ricasso is stamped "WESTERN/ PAT'D.". Blued handguard with leather disk handle, featuring black and red spacers at the guard and pommel. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: correct unmarked brown leather sheath. CONDITION: excellent, with the blade retaining bountiful amounts of its original factory blue finish, exhibiting some light areas of edge wear and a couple of small losses to the finish overall. Handguard exhibits some spots of oxidation, but otherwise is good overall. Leather on handle is very good overall, with some scattered marks from handling and storage. Front and rear straps of handle exhibit oxidation and discoloration. Pommel retains a gray patina. Sheath exhibits mild wear and areas of age related cracking and crazing overall. Button strap shows heavy cracking and crazing. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18458/MLW). $500-800.
