WITH SHEATH. 8" fighting knife produced by Western Cutlery Co. during World War II. Blade measures 8" in length and 13" in overall length. Brightly polished clip point pattern blade with 4" fuller on either side. Left ricasso is stamped "WESTERN". Polished guard with leather disk handle featuring black and red spacers at the guard and pommel. Underside of pommel is stamped "PAT NO./ 1,967. 479". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: correct unmarked brown leather sheath. CONDITION: blade retains its lustrous polished finish, with some scattered spots of mild discoloration and a few small spots of light pitting. Handle is very good overall, with scattered marks from handling and storage, as well as some minor losses on edges of front and rear "grip straps". Pommel retains a gray patina overall. Sheath shows scattered marks from handling and storage, with some mild age related cracking, and some areas of light crazing. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox.
