BARRELED DOUBLE SHOTGUN. Cal. 10 Ga. 3". S# 79035 (1911). The 32" dovetailed barrels are engraved with maker's name and Shaftesbury Avenue London address on flat matted game rib. Barrel flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 10 bore long chamber and 1-1/2 oz. of shot. Case hardened robust boxlock action features automatic safety, hidden cross bolt third fastener and double triggers. Action is engraved with about 50% coverage shaded scroll, maker's name is on both sides. Top lever, floor plate and trigger guard are blued. S# and castle logo are on trigger guard tang. Round knob pistol grip buttstock of lightly figured European walnut measures 14" over serrated horn buttplate. Flat top point pattern checkering is on semi-diamond grip and a vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter forend with decorative steel tip has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .775. R .776. Restriction: L .048 (Wicked Full). R .048 (Wicked Full). Wall thickness: L .044. R .045. STOCK: DAH: 2-7/8". DAC: 1-5/8". CAST: about 1/2" off. LOP: 14". WEIGHT: 9 lb. 15 oz. CONDITION: very fine. Barrels retaining about 90% original blue with marks and thinning from normal hand wear. Action retains about 70% case hardening color. Top lever, floorplate and trigger guard retain about 70% original blue or better. Stocks retain most of their original oil finish with a fair scattering of marks, checkering shows some chips and dings which are very apparent on right side of both grip and forend, which shows very deep marks. Bores are bright and shiny. Action is tight, mechanically good. A great old waterfowler in fine condition and with good dimensions. (23-1270/MGM). C&R. $1,500-2,500.
