ENGRAVED SILVER PLATED STEVENS 44 IDEAL RIFLE WITH ORIGINAL CUMMINS SCOPE. Cal. 25-20 Single Shot. S# 17145. Corresponds most closely to the "Modern Range" rifle no. 47, but no. "49", (Walnut Hill) is on front of action. It has 1/2 rnd., 1/2 oct., 25 1/2", 0 weight marked bbl. fitted w/ L. C. Cummins Montpelier, Vermont marked scope w/ fine crosshair reticle, vertical hair w/ dots for elevation. There are no other sight cuts in bbl. Stevens markings are on top. Silver plated no. 44 action has casehardened loop lever & blued breech block, hammer & trigger. Action is engraved w/ near full coverage varying sized scroll. American walnut pistol grip stock is uncheckered & features silver plated Swiss butt, right hand cheekpiece & ogee grip bottom. Sm. plain matching forend has schnabeled tip. CONDITION: bbl. retains approx. 90% original blue. Scope is also excellent w/ 90% of its blue, optically somewhat fogged, (probably needs cleaning). Action retains over 90% original silver plate rubbed through on sharp edges & considerably toned. Blued parts retain nearly all of their original blue. Casehardened loop lever is almost all silver. Stocks retain nearly all of their original varnish w/ considerable attic burn. Buttplate w/ silver rubbed through on some sharp edges retaining approx. 90%, toned black. Bright shiny bore.
