MODEL BROWN BESS MUSKET. Cal. 72. NSN. 58.5" overall, 42" tapered round barrel, musket is excellent detailed copy of 2nd model British Brown Bess. Made for bicentennial reenactors. Lock has "GR" cypher forward of cock & "STOWE / 1776" on tail. Gerald Stowe was the former curator of arms & armor at the West Point Museum. He died in 1970 and this reproduction was made during the bicentennial & marked in his remembrance. CONDITION: fine overall. Uncleaned, patinaed iron & brass, stock is sound, mechanics fine, smooth clear bore, at first glance appears original. (01-27033/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,000-2,000.
