Cal. 10 Ga. NSN. Bbl. 32 1/2" round of twist steel. Bottom of bbl. has a Birmingham definitive black powder proof for shotguns ca. 1868-1925. Breech end of bbl. has a short flat w/ long point leading to a large sunburst engraving 6" from breech. Flat of breech plug has an engraved scene featuring a game bird that may be a turkey. Lock & hammer have fine foliate scroll engraving surrounding a scene w/ 3 pheasants. Long tang trigger guard w/ matching scroll engraving having a running rabbit scene on the trigger guard bow. Trigger plate has an engraved English style fancy finial. Steel shotgun buttplate has matching engraving on its long peak. Wedge fastened half length oak stock w/ checkered wrist & forend. Top of wrist has rectangular German silver nameplate. Additional German silver fittings consist of wedge escutcheons & nose cap. Brass tipped hardwood ramrod is held on iron under rib by faceted iron thimble & 2 plain pipes. WEIGHT: 8 lbs, 4.6 ozs. CONDITION: totally refinished gun. Bbl., lock & iron fittings retain 95% brightly polished caustic reblue showing scattered small spots of corrosion. Heavily sanded stock has a semi-gloss finish showing small dents & handling marks. Some fittings have a proud fit to the wood. Small chips are found behind the lock & along the bbl. channel. Checkering is recut. Sound lock. Front bead is not present. Lightly pitted bore.
