COLT SINGLE ACTION SHERIFF'S MODEL FULLY ENGRAVED & INLAID BY FEGA MASTER ENGRAVER, MICHAEL DUBBER. Cal. 44-40. S# SA39438. From Tombstone, AZ to Dodge City, KS to New Orleans, LA and everywhere in between, gambling on the frontier was for some, a leisurely way to pass the time. For others it was an obsession, the right cards could propel man down on his luck into the upper echelons of Western Frontier society. Lawman, outlaws, cowboys and settlers alike flocked to the Oasis of these smoke filled saloons found scattered across the American West. Legends of the card table include the likes of Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, and Wild Bill Hickock to name a few. This custom engraved Michael Dubber masterpiece, "The Gambler" is a tribute to the risk, reward and deadly charm of the gambling frontier. Featured on the cover of issue 77 of "THE ENGRAVER", Jan through March 2008, this 3rd Gen. Sheriff's Model features full coverage floral scroll engraving with a multitude of gold and silver inlays surrounded by straight line gold wire borders. Bbl. 3" ejectorless with pierced gold leaf engraved front sight is adorned with 2 gold bands at muzzle end and 2 at breech end. Scroll in bbl. is accented by 10 silver leaf inlays. Bbl. address bordered by stylized gold wire inlay. Left side of bbl. marked "COLT SHERIFFS MODEL" in gold. Right side marked "COLT SAA .44-.40", also in gold. Muzzle face inlaid with gold alternating card suits. Left side of frame exhibits 6 silver leaf inlays interspersed amongst scroll work with 4 silver leaf inlays found on right. Left side of frame shows gold inlaid Rampant Colt at right of patent dates, all surrounded by gold wire border. Left side of recoil shield features a gold inlaid royal flush poker hand in the suit of spades accented by 3 silver leaf inlays. Right side recoil shield bears for silver leaf inlays & 4 golf dots surrounded by straight ling gold wire border. Loading gate displays a pair of silver inlaid dice. Opening the loading gate reveals the silver inlay "Ace in the Hole" (Ace of spades). Lower right rear of frame features a harlequin style silver & gold joker. Cylinder flutes bordered with stylized gold wire inlay with gold inlaid card suits between each flute. Gold plated trigger guard frame, hammer & small parts, including screw heads, all profusely engraved in leaf, floral scroll and starburst patterns. 1 Piece smooth white grip. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: glass top hardwood shadowline display case lined with smooth beige suede. Case contains 4 vintage poker chips, a pair of modern dice, miniature Royal flush, gold plated pocket watch & chain with Rampant Colt pendant attached. Case emblazoned with name shield "The Gambler". CONDITION: all aspects near excellent as custom finished. Case finish displays mild craquelure.
