The top flat of the chamber is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/ MAUSER/ OBERNDORF A/N", with the S# marked on the left quarter flat, a double crowned "U" commercial proof on the left flat, and an Ulm Proof House antler marked on the right. Frame and bbl. extension exhibit a rust blue finish, with the trigger exhibiting a straw finish. Bolt is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece "MW" monogram checkered brown hard rubber grips. Fixed blade front sight, with V-notch tangent sight, graduated 50-1000. Slotted flatside frame, with lanyard ring, long extractor, single lug firing pin, and large ring hammer. Nearly all serialized parts are matching and include the frame, floorplate, hammer, lock frame, transfer bar, sear, locking block, bbl. / bbl. extension, rear sight bar, rear sight cursor, as well as the firing pin. Grips are matching via the full S#, which is lightly inscribed on the interior of the panels. Bolt is numbered "2988" on the rear. Follower is a replacement, with the bolt stop also appearing to be a replacement. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked wood stock that has been sanded and revarnished at one time. Stock iron does not fit properly to frame. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory rust blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light to mild wear and thinning that shows through to gray patina, with scattered superficial handling marks, some light surface oxidation, as well as some spots of dark mild surface oxidation overall. Left side of frame exhibits scattered dings at the rear. Trigger retains the majority of its straw finish, with the front face exhibiting wear through to gray patina. Nitre blue parts are very good, with some light to mild edge wear. In-the-white parts show scattered spots of age related discoloration, with the bolt exhibiting some scattered spots of light to mild pitting. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing, as well as some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Stock is good, exhibiting some superficial handling marks and minor impressions, with a crack present on one side of the iron, and a large chip present on the other. A nice example of a desirable Mauser C96 flatside pistol. (25-512/MLW). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.
