LEVER ACTION RIFLE WITH PHENOMENAL ORIGINAL CASE HARDENED FRAME. Cal. 38-55. S# 12935. Research indicates that only 155 Model 1894 Winchesters left the factory with case hardened frames. Bbl. 26" tapered octagon, measuring 5/8" across flats at muzzle. Fixed blade sporting front sight with elevator adjustable sporting rear sight. Full length takedown mag. Blue finished bbl. assembly. Case colored action, lever and hammer. The highly desirable case colored actions were no longer cataloged after 1901. Walnut forearm and straight grip stock with case colored crescent steel buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms Records search listing specification. Type: Rifle, Caliber: 38-55, Barrel: Octogon, Trigger: Plain, Takedown, Case hardened. Serial number applied 12-29-1895. Received in warehouse on April 15, 1896. Shipped from warehouse on April 15, 1896, Order number 9219. CONDITION: very fine. Action, hammer and lever still have an incredible 90% case colored finish. Forward areas and top tang show some fading from carry wear with scattered small spots. Bbl. assembly retains 80% lightly faded blue showing takedown wear. With fading and wear on forearm cap and receiver extension. Original wood finish shows light wear with numerous small scratches and marks. The bore retains sound rifling showing some very light pitting. (01-22290/DS). ANTIQUE. $40,000-55,000.
