C96 FLATSIDE SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH STOCK. Cal. 7.63mm. S# 28668. Bbl. 7". C96 semi-automatic pistol, likely mfg. in China. Flatside frame is unmarked and features a seemingly detachable mag. well extension for a total capacity of 20-rds. Bbl. extension is unmarked. Frame, bbl./bbl. extension, and mag. well extension exhibit a reapplied blue finish. Sub-frame assembly is appropriately in-the-white, with the bolt and large ring hammer being polished in-the-white. Trigger is strawed, with the safety lever, extractor, rear sight slide, and grip screw exhibiting a nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved wood grips. Standard C96 pattern fixed blade front sight with tangent V-notch rear sight graduated 100-900, interestingly also stamped "001" and "002" at the pin. Serialized parts are matching and include the sub-frame, hammer, bolt, and bolt stop. Trigger, sear, and sear arm are numbered "86" or "98". Remaining parts are unnumbered. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: likely Chinese C96 stock holster properly cut for the mag. extension. Sides of holster feature brass button clasps that affix to a brown leather mag. housing cover. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, showing some areas of light wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, with scattered spots of light pitting present beneath the bluing. Dark bore, exhibiting mild to moderate pitting, while retaining extremely crude and poorly cut rifling that makes the pistol unsafe to fire. Bolt does not catch on follower. Grips are very good, with some small handling marks. Stock and leather mag. housing cover are very good, with some superficial marks from handling and storage. (25-3440/MLW). MODERN. $5,000-7,000.
