SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH CASE. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 1/2". S# 31829 (1928). The 26 1/2" chopper lump barrels fitted with swamped game rib are engraved "Holland & Holland." "98. New Bond Street London" on tops. Rear portion of rib is gold inlaid "1". Matching numeral is top lever and forend tip. Barrel flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers. Holland patent self opening assist spring is installed. Case hardened "Royal" sidelock action features automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold). Hand detachable sidelocks, gold band tumbler end cocking indicators and double triggers. Action is engraved in classic "Royal" style with full coverage well cut varying sized shaded scroll. "Holland & Holland" is in classic arched device on each lockplate. Bottom of action is engraved "ROYAL""SELF-OPENER""PATENT 1922". Fences are engraved with acanthus at centers flanked by strap work and floral scroll. Blued top lever is engraved "ROYAL""EJECTOR". Single beaded trigger guard with scroll on bow has S# on short tang. Lightly figured and well marbled European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 3/4" over checkered wood butt on 3" lengthening piece that is fairly well matched. Stock features drop points, point pattern checkering on diamond hand and gold oval engraved "L.S.G.". Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .732". R .0733". Restriction: L.018" (mod). R .004" (IC). Wall thickness: L .028". R .026". STOCK: DAH: 2 5/16". DAC: 1 7/16". CAST: about 5/8" off. LOP: 14 3/4". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 6 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in vintage "VC" case with stitched leather corners by Abercrombie & Fitch. Case is lined in burgundy cloth. It has green 13 Bruton Street H&H label in lid. Case contains square oil bottle, A&F snap caps and a bone striker bottle with this guns S# containing strikers. CONDITION: fine as partially refurbished. Barrels retaining about 90% original blue with a scattering of marks and scratches. Action retains about 30% of its case hardening color, lockplates retain most of their color. Most original blue remains on top lever. Trigger guard retains only about 20% blue the balance being silver gray. Stocks retain most of what appears to be their original finish. Buttstock with added oil with installation of lengthening piece. Checkering partially recut on buttstock, forend checkering remains original with moderate wear. Bores are bright and shiny without noted problems, action is tight, barrels are on face, ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is still light in color but is crazed, rubbed, has tape marks and handle missing. Interior cloth is good with soiling and rubs, some through. Label is good, accessories are good.
