PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# F01807. Bbl. 4 5/8". Hungarian copy of a Fabrique Nationale High Power semi-automatic pistol. While at first glance, appearing to be an FN produced High Power there are several minute differences, that while small (S# and slide catch lever slot), indicate that this example was instead mfg. in Hungary, likely by FEG. The left side of the slide exhibits a spurious FN roll stamp "FABRIQUE NATIONALE HERSTAL BELGIQUE/ BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE", with a spurious Belgian commercial proof marked on the right side of the trigger guard and on the right side of the bbl. Underside of trigger guard exhibits a Century Arms import mark. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the 2-piece bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Fixed fat half-moon blade front sight, with dovetailed square notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame (front grip strap), slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 blued 13-rd., with a WaA140 proof on the spine, and with a blued split tail floorplate. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as scattered areas of light to mild surface oxidation overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting some light pitting and some spots of grease, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing, scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, as well as areas of flaking and wear to their varnish, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: the Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-274/MLW). MODERN. $800-1,200.
