MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 7.62x54R. S# CA0730. All visible numbers match. Bbl. 20 1/4". Import-marked on the left side of the bbl. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1,000 meters. Post-front sight with protective hood. Bbl. is marked over chamber "02," which is the manufacturing code for the Budapest Arsenal dated "1952," and has a tiny, faint Hungarian crest, rnd. receiver, and straight bolt handle. Bolt head and cocking piece marked "02". 12 1/4" folding spike bayonet. The cleaning rod is not present. Hardwood stock set. The buttstock has finger grooves and sling slots. Buttstock is marked on the right side with the encircled "B," "02," and an encircled "2." Stock is marked on the left side over the magwell, which appears to read "58" with a vertical line dividing the digits. CONDITION: stock set has light to moderate wear, staining, and handling marks while retaining a good appearance with the original finish. Metal retains most of its original blue with very light wear and scattered scratches. Very good, shiny bore. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Terrence McCarty. (24-445/RW). CURIO. $200-300.
