PERCUSSION PARADOX RIFLE. Cal. 60 / 20 Bore. NSN. Also known as a Ball & Shot gun, this rifle has 25 5/8" oct. barrels. Center rib has German silver blade front sight, notch rear sight & address "I. D. MORITZ & SOHN IN LEIPZIG". Ornate Lefaucheux style locks with scroll & floral engraving showing woodland scenes on locks along with dragon head ornamentation at head of locks & hammers. Lock has dog leg safeties. Wedge fastened walnut stock with metal buttplate & Jaeger style sliding wooden patchbox lid. Brass finger rest triggerguard. Ebony floral tip to guard. German silver wedge escutcheons. Hardwood ramrod held by 2 pipes & spear finial thimble. CONDITION: Barrels have brown patina appearance with wear & spots of oxidation. Locks and frame metal have gray patina appearance. Worn wood finish with worn to smooth checkering, areas of wood erosion, epoxy repairs & grain cracks. Dark pitted bores. (01-26191/MD).
