CIA OPERATIVE. This historic lot contains an OSS stiletto, book, award document, and newspaper article reportedly belonging to William J. Hood of the Central Intelligence Agency. The knife is known as an OSS stiletto and is equipped with a rare "pancake flipper scabbard". The overall length of the stiletto and scabbard is 12 1/2" and the knife itself is 11 1/2" overall with a 6 9/16" blade. The stiletto has the proper dark finish and the scabbard is correct in every way. The lot includes an award document bestowing the Intelligence Medal of Merit on Mr. Hood along with a newspaper with an article titled "MOLE THE STORY OF A RUSSIAN DOUBLE AGENT" by Hood. finally, the group includes a book titled "SECRET HISTORY of the American Revolution" by Carl Van Doren. The book was give to Frank J. Hogan by Van Doren and subsequently by Bill Hood to a gentleman named O'Brian. (02-24528/BF). $3000-5000.
