An attractive example of an Imperial German Reserve Officer's helmet from the Kingdom of Bavaria. This high grade officer helmet has gilded trim throughout, except for the silvered Bavarian Reserve Cross at the center of the frontplate. The trim includes a beautifully fluted spike with quatrefoil base, front plate, scaled chinstrap, side bosses, and visor trim. Oddly, there is an officer grade Prussian kokard on the right side and an NCO grade Bavarian kokard on the left side. The interior rear visor is red and the interior front visor is green. Wide leather scalloped sweatband stamped "K Z 10-32" with an illegible maker's label. The grosgrain liner has an interesting mustard color, possibly due to sweat stains. CONDITION: this helmet shows light overall wear with a solid body and lightly worn interior. One star from the quatrefoil base is detached, but present. A few chin scales are a bit loose but none are missing. There is expected light crazing to the body of the helmet. (02-24034/BF). $1,200-1,500.
