SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 7748. Bbl. 4". Standard configuration P.08 Luger mfg. at the Royal Arsenal at Erfurt circa. 1918. The top of the bbl. extension is marked "1918", with the right side exhibiting Crown/RC above 1 crowned Erfurt proof, followed by 2 blank crowns, indicating that this bbl. extension was mfg. as an armorer's replacement. Toggle is marked with a crown over "ERFURT". Bbl. is a later Mauser replacement. Ejector is marked with later but illegible proof. Frame has been refinished and subsequently heavily cleaned at one time. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Right grip screw is a brass replacement. Matching numbers "03" are present on the sideplate (in the hidden commercial fashion), as well as on the front and rear toggles. Remaining components are unnumbered or mismatched. MAGS: 1 8-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain poor to good amounts of their original or reapplied blue finishes, exhibiting wear and thinning overall that shows through to gray and brown patinas, with moderate pitting present primarily on the frame, toggle train, and sideplate. Very bright bore, exhibiting consistent mild pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some smoothing and some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-2268/MLW). CURIO. $700-1,100.
