SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH STOCK HOLSTER & INSCRIBED GRIP. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 83041. Bbl. 5 1/2". C96 "Red 9" semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser under contract for the Imperial German military during World War I. Top flat of the faceted bbl. breech is marked with Mauser's mfg. information, with the S# marked on the left quarter flat, a double crown "U" proof on the left, and an Imperial German military acceptance proof on the right. Front of the frame is stamped with an Imperial German Reichsadler. Right side of the frame is also marked with Mauser's mfg. information, which is only partially legible. Frame and bbl. / bbl. extension exhibit a reapplied blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved red "9" grips that have been revarnished at one time. Interior of the right grip panel is inscribed "Von Bihm". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: revarnished non-matching shoulder stock with a reproduction harness and 3 stripper clips. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light wear and small areas of pitting beneath the finish overall. Bore exhibits pitting and fair to good rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some scattered marks from handling and storage but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable.
