LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 5632m. Bbl. 4". Standard configuration P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM in 1916 for the Imperial German military. The bbl. extension is marked "1916" over the chamber, with DWM arsenal proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Metal components exhibit what appears to be a period (likely arsenal) reapplied blue finish overall, with the takedown lever, trigger, mag. release button, safety lever, and ejector having been reheated. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard blade front sight, with V-notch rear sight. Nearly all numbers are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, breechblock, extractor, toggles, as well as the grips. Trigger and firing pin are unnumbered. MAGS: 1 non-matching 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster marked "SCHAMBACH&Co/ BERLIN/ 1916". Loading tool is absent. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their period reapplied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as some areas of light pitting that are present both above and below the finish. Frame exhibits moderate pitting beneath the grip panels. Grip straps and left frame "ear" exhibit an unusual patina, showing light to mild pitting, as well as striations from prior cleaning. Dark pitted bore, retaining fair rifling throughout. Grips are good, showing mild smoothing, as well as some scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage. Left grip panel is poorly fit. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting wear, as well as some areas of light to mild age related cracking overall. (24-6889/MLW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
