This exceptionally beautiful dagger measures 15 3/8" overall with a mirror-like 8 7/8" blade. The blade has a straight hamon with a full-length hi. The habaki is gilded. The stylized tsuba is gold-plated with one seppa above and below. Gold-plated matching fuchi and kashira with a white same wire-wrapped grip. There is a single 5-petal cherry blossom on each side of the grip. Saya has well-articulated gilded mounts showing 5-petal cherry blossoms with what appears to be a polished sharkskin-covered scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows virtually no wear. Hilt and scabbard show exceptionally light wear. A truly superb specimen. (02-22801-6/BF). $400-700.
