Large model of an Imperial Japanese Navy I-53 Kaidai Type KD3A class submarine. The KD3A class consisted of just 4 submarines, I-53, I-54, I-55, and I-58, with I-53 having gone on 3 wartime patrols during World War II before being hulked to serve as a IJN training vessel until the end of the war. This example is marked I 153" on either side of of the sail, with a Imperial Japanese flag mounted at the rear. The deck is mounted with 5 Kaiten torpedo suicide crafts. Hull has been painted, giving an appropriate water aged appearance. CONDITION: model retains bountiful amounts of its painted exterior and appears to retain all small parts and components, but should be handled with care.
