DE BRA. Circa 1880, Georgia militia officer’s fancy full dress chapeau in original box has kept this hat in beautiful condition for past 125 years. Size 7, fine beaver skin, 5" high, 17" bow to stern, silk ribbons, lg. gold bullion tassel knots at either end, magnificent gold bullion & velvet embroidered Georgia state seal, 4" high on 5" ruffled cockade, sewn ostrich feathers. Previously sold October 2005, James D. Julia Auctions, lot 2431. CONDITION: very good. Red silk liner & patent leather sweat band intact, scuffing at base, worn through felt, ribbons intact & tight, ostrich plumes are shedding. Pasteboard box has broken & missing edges, torn indiscernible label. (02-16655/JS). $400-600.
