WITH FRAMED FACTORY LETTER (COPY) & PARTIAL ORIGINAL HANG TAG. Cal. 20 Ga. 2-3/4". S# 239983 (1938). It is doubtful that this fine little gun has ever shot a round of skeet. The factory letter indicates that it was shipped to Marshall Field Inc., Chicago, Illinois on January 11, 1938. The gun features 28" Vulcan steel barrels with standard rib which has two white beads installed. All correct markings are on barrel flats and rear lump is stamped "20" and with frame size "0". Splinter is of reinforced type. Case hardened action with all correct markings on watertable features Parker single selective trigger and non-automatic safety. Action has wiggle border engraving and some small flourishes of scroll with ''PARKER" on bottom in usual late factory V grade style. Blued trigger guard has S# on tang. Straight grip buttstock of nicely quilt figured American walnut measures 14" over checkered wood butt. Stock has usual point pattern grip checkering and German silver shield on toeline. Matching long beavertail ejector forend has usual Parker release without patent dates. Factory letter does not list stock configuration. Identification ledger lists as having ejectors and single trigger but does not list straight grip stock or long forend. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .615 R .617. Restriction: L .006 (skeet). R .005 (skeet). Wall thickness: L .026. R .025. STOCK: DAH: 2-1/4". DAC: 1-1/2". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 11 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a picture frame containing a Parker letter (photocopy) with specifications and a partial Marshall Field hang tag. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. A benchmark gun. Perhaps the finest condition 20 bore skeet gun in existence! Metal parts retaining essentially all of their original finishes with the exception of some flaking and spotting on trigger guard bow and a hint of silver on rear of top tang and safety button. Case hardening on top lever thumb piece and forend latch have faded or flaked to brownish gray. It appears that the color on the latch was never very bright, which is in stark contrast to the extraordinarily fine original color on the action. There are a few minor handling marks in original finish of wood the most noticeable being a 1" longitudinal scratch and another small ding on right side of buttstock; a vertical 5/8" scratch is on left. Checkering remains light in color and does not show any wear. Bores are bright and shiny. Mechanically crisp. A wonderful gun worthy of the finest collection. (25-1593/MGM). CURIO. $30,000-60,000.
