KNUCKLE KNIFE WITH SHEATH. Indian knuckle knife mfg. for the Jodhpur City Volunteer Corps, commemorating the wedding of Prince Karam Singh to Princess Yashorajya Lakshmi. The right side of the grip is marked "JODHPUR CITY/ (JODHPUR CITY CREST)/ VOLUNTEER CORPS/ No.", with "AUSPICIOUS/ WEDDING/ PRINCESS JODHPUR/ APRIL 22ND 1950" (last digit of year is illegible, but is commonly referred to as "1951"). The blade measures 6 1/4" from the point to the grip tang, with an overall length of 11 1/8". Steel blade and brass grip exhibit a nickel plated finish. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked brown leather sheath. CONDITION: blade retains large amounts of its original nickel plated finish, exhibiting some light bubbling, with areas of flaking that show through to gray patina. Brass grip retains large amounts of its original nickel plated finish, exhibiting light bubbling, with areas of flaking that show through to a pleasing mellow patina. Sheath remains malleable, exhibiting some light wear, with age related cracking and crazing present on the retention strap. (02-24414/MLW). $400-700.
