Cal. 1 3/4". NSN. Bbl. 14 1/4". This richly decorated flintlock blunderbuss has a heavily belled bbl. that is inlaid with silver vines and a floral motif. The lock is also embellished with foliate motifs but bears no markings. Decorated brass trigger guard with an iron butt plate. Wooden ramrod with a brass tip. The exceptionally dark stock is covered with artistically arranged brass tacks and brass wire inlay surrounding intricately inlaid bone designs. The wrist shows rudimentary crosshatching highlighted by more brass pins. CONDITION: the iron has an overall dark patina, with the silver inlays still remarkably visible. The lock functions with difficulty. The stock is generally solid but does have a significant crack at the wrist. The bbl. is loose in the bbl. channel and temporarily secured with a rubber band. Bore is rough. (01-26035/BF). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
