CARBINE. Cal. 30 Carb. S# 5453841. Bbl. 18". Bbl. marked behind front sight "INLAND MFG. DIV. GENERAL MOTORS 8-44". Scarce folding stock M1A1 carbine overhauled at Augusta Ga. Arsenal. Milled adjustable rear sight marked "PI". Blade front sight w/ protective ears marked "N". Wide bbl. band w/out bayonet lug appears unmarked. 6 O'clock slide marked "PI". Milled trigger housing marked "INLAND" w/ push button safety. Mag. catch marked "CC". Straight cut hammer marked ".U." Flat bolt marked "IO". Two rivet handguard marked "IO". Low wood walnut stock set w/ folding butt. Stock marked on right side over grip "A.A.R." Pistol grip marked at front w/ "P". Grip is marked at bottom left w/ partially obliterated circular marking. Pistol grip is not marked at bottom. Has correct leather cheekpiece. All metal parts of stock appear to be correct. Casting marks on inside of buttplate are illegible. Green web sling. MAGS: 3-15 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original mag. pouch by Luce Manufacturing Co., dated 1944. Also includes rubberized canvas bag marked "CARRYING CASE BARREL" w/ U.S. markings for M60 Machine Gun spare bbl. CONDITION: buttplate spring has detached end. Cheek pad has tearing at top & bottom w/ dark stained scuffed appearance. Parkerized finish has light wear & scattered sm. spots of oxidation. Balance of wood has moderate wear, staining & scratches throughout. Metal has 75% original dark Parkerized finish w/ light wear, scratches & handling marks. Very good shiny bore. (20-3370/RW).
