PISTOL WITH BRITISH PROOFS FOR E NEWGASS. Cal. 38 Rimless (38 ACP). S# 37891 (1915). This pistol is engraved on the back strap "E NEWGASS", stamped with inventory number "5157" on front strap, bottom of frame near trigger guard bow on left side marked "JJ" & has London proofs on barrel, slide & frame; appears to be for a British Officer. Standard configuration w/ lanyard loop & 6" bbl. Tapered blade front & U notch rear sight. Colt hard rubber grips. MAGS: 1 - 8 rd. w/out markings on base plate. Mag. has very good blue finish with long contact wear streaks. CONDITION: very good original high polish blued finish showing areas of marks & finish loss scattered throughout the pistol; most noticeable near the muzzle & front strap. Front bottom of frame has area of patina. Good original fire blue on small parts showing worn finish in handling areas. Very good case colors on frame. Good grips showing sm. cracks, sm. dents & marks. Very good barrel blue having a very good bore showing strong rifling, light frosting in the grooves & 1 small dent at bottom of rifling.
