GATE & SHORT BARREL. Cal. 44. S# 11892. This late serial number Henry rifle conforms to other 5th variation rifles, other than shortened uncrowned 19 1/8" octagonal barrel with correct Henry's Patent 2-line address with loading gate added to frame and magazine capped like a 1866 Winchester rifle. Matching serial number 11892 Found on barrel, lower tang under wood, upper tang channel of buttstock, and inside top edge of buttplate. Sling swivels on the left side, front sight is 1866 style German silver blade on blued steel base inset in dovetail, rear sight is 1000 yard Henry. Nickel plated frame and butt plate, varnished straight grain walnut stock. CONDITION: very good to fine overall, all matching and complete as configured, retaining 95% plus of an old nickel plate, barrel retains over 20% original thinning blue. Mechanically fine, good six groove rifling. Attached sling is reproduction. (01-26425/JS). ANTIQUE. $3,000-6,000.
