RECOIL SHIELDS. Cal. 38 CF. S# 147849. Bbl. 7 1/2". This revolver originally made during the Civil War in 1863 has what consignor calls "Ranch Conversion". Conversion consists of removing recoil shields flush w/ frame like on Confederate Dance revolvers. Added screwed & brazed top strap w/ integral notch sight, lg. iron blade front sight, firing pin mechanism, percussion cyl. cut for metallic cartridge, altered hammer face & partially removed loading arm affixed solidly to bbl. housing. CONDITION: good overall. Appears original as converted w/ exception of newer added wedge. Mechanically functional w/ crisp rifled bore. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of James B. Taylor.
