GUN WITH ORIGINAL MONTE CARLO STOCK. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-5/8". S# 26321 (1898). The 30" fine Damascus barrels with slightly raised flat matted rib are stamped with tube #'s "26317" & "26321" on bottoms of barrels. Case hardened sideplate action has S# and grade on watertable and is fitted with automatic safety, cocking indicators, late style cocking hook and nickel plated double triggers. Action and locks are engraved in early E style with line borders having scroll accents along with sprays of scroll on lockplates surrounding maker's name and exceptionally well rendered engravings of dogs; with pointing pointer on left lockplate and pointing setter on right. The head of a spaniel retrieving a duck is on trigger guard bow and S# is on tang. Capped pistol grip buttstock of dense nicely streaked and lightly figured European walnut measures 14-3/8" over original hard rubber buttplate with central Lefever logo. Stock features unusual (a good number of examples known) original Monte Carlo type comb. Well cut checkering is at grip. Vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter forend with usual friction release has central hard rubber circle embossed with a spaniel's head. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .741. R .740. Restriction: L .036 (full).
