MODEL 1917 REVOLVERS. One of these holsters is referenced on page 290 of the book, U.S. MILITARY HOLSTERS AND RELATED ACCOUTREMENTS by Edward Scott Meadows. 1) WWII M2 HOLSTER. This holster is basically a Model 1909 made so the butt of the revolver is to the rear when worn on the right side. Holster is russet leather marked "US" on the front. The back of the belt loop is marked "TEXTAN" which was the Texas tanning company in Yoakum, Texas. The flap is held by a brass finial. The plug at the tip carries a lanyard ring. Raw hide tie down form to help position holster on belt. CONDITION: holster has very light wear w/ scattered handling marks. 2) ABERCROMBIE AND FITCH. Russet leather holster w/ wide flap secured by brass finial. A leather pad stitched and riveted to the back of the holster is marked "ABERCROMBIE & FITCH CO. NEW YORK" around logo for Abercrombie and Fitch. The holster is equipped for both a plain leather belt & has a Model 1910 hook for a pistol belt. The holster tip has 2 eyelets for a rawhide tie down thong which is present. CONDITION: holster has light to moderate wear w/ scattered handling marks. Stitching is tight. 3) ABERCROMBIE AND FITCH SWIVEL HOLSTER. Brown leather marked "US" on the flap. Flap is secured by brass finial. Pad on back of holster secured by stitching and rivets. Is marked "ABERCROMBIE & FITCH CO. NEW YORK" around logo for Abercrombie and Fitch. Belt loop swivels on copper rivet. Tip of holster has grommets & is equipped w/ leather tie down thong. CONDITION: holster has light wear & scattered handling marks. Metal fittings have notable verdigris. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Edward Scott Meadows. (02-22136/RW). $800-1,200.
