JONES, WWII US ARMY SNIPER.This interesting grouping of medals, photographs, patches, reminiscences & letters relating to Private William E. Jones. Jones was a U.S. Army sniper who served in the 4th division at Normandy. Also included is a copy of the book: One Shot One Kill by Sasser & Roberts. Chapter 4 of the book tells the story of then Sergeant William Jones at Normandy including the destruction of his Springfield sniper rifle by Mortar fire. The Bronze Star award is framed & includes the medal, Bar & certificate along w/ 3 photos showing private Jones. There are further medals detailing service in the European Theater along w/ additional photos, qualification badges & unit patches to include 11th Airborne & 4th Infantry division patch. Included is a 10 page hand written undated reminiscence letter. There are copies of letters written to his sister while overseas. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a folder containing paperwork relating to Sergeant Jones. CONDITION: items may have wear, staining & tarnishing due to age w/ fading photographs, some of which were folded.
