SHORT RIFLE WITH STRAIGHT GRIP STOCK. Cal. 8x56 MS. S# 7550. It is possible that this good looking rifle was made this way & not an altered carbine. 20" Tapered rnd. bbl. has had rear sight removed & plugged & silver bead front sight is in short ramp. Typical action w/ flat butterknife bore & rotary mag., has factory markings & model on stippled receiver ring. A Lyman No. 36 bolt stop sight is installed. Action features dbl. set triggers. Stock of attractively marbled & fiddle figured European walnut ends 2" in front of bail type sling loop & has straight grip. Stocks measures 14 1/2" over ribbed steel buttplate w/ trap & features right hand cheekpiece, point pattern checkering at grip & standard carbine checkering at forend. CONDITION: bbl. & action retaining most of an old reblue w/ considerable subsequent silvering. Wood has most of a light old oil refinish w/ a few subsequent marks. Bore is fine w/ strong rifling throughout & a bit of frosting. Action is smooth. Set triggers work. (21-2528/MGM). CURIO. $900-1,500.
