OR MARKET GARDEN ASSOCIATION. This lot consists of a very interesting small cargo\equipment parachute in white, stenciled "PART NO. 43K21909 MFG. BY HIGHTSTOWN RUG CO. PARACHUTE DIVISION DATE OF MFG. JUL 1943". The parachute is signed in ink by a number of soldiers with their hometowns and occasionally other information. The largest inscription reads "CAPTAIN JOE McMILLIN GOLDVILLE SOUTH CAROLINA MEMBERS OF THE 1ST PLATOON CO. PARACHUTE INFANTRY WHO TOOK PART IN THE CAMPAIGN". Included with this group is 1 photograph of a landing parachutist signed "Jerome Werbela Ft Benning Georgia". / 3 other photos showing a full standing view of Werbela. / 1 German bank note. / 2 pieces of occupation currency. / 1 red, white, and blue glider parachute patch. / 1 red and green aiguilette. / 1 fringed "U.S. ARMY PARATROOPS FORT BENNING, GA." souvenir pillow. / 1 camouflage scarf. / 1 folky carved wooden U.S. aircraft with 4 engines, painted silver with decals. / 1 WWII German SA\political enlisted buckle on the original belt with an attached 2-pocket cartridge pouch. / 1 WWII German canteen with cup and all associated straps. CONDITION: the parachute is quite solid though some of the signatures have faded a bit but remain legible. Other items generally show light wear. The canteen cover has significant moth damage. The airplane has a few minor missing parts, including 2 blades on one of the props. (02-23641/BF). $600-1,000.
