SHOTGUN BY GALLION OF BAYOUNE. Cal. 24 Ga. NSN. 7 Bbl. cluster measures 27 1/2" and is composed of 3 pair of side by side bbls. & 1 central bbl. Each set of bbls. is rotated into position and locked into place by key shaped sliding bolt on top of breech iron. It's not clear how central (7th) bbl. is fired, it may be only an axle. Breech ends of bbls. are stamped w/ varying letters w/ 1 pair A & B? the next T & R? and the last Z & O? Back spring locks are mounted with tall faceted percussion hammers. Right lock is engraved w/ maker's name & left w/ address. Steel trigger guard has nicely filed bow. Stock of figured European walnut has toeline nicely relief carved w/ sweeping volute scroll & shell finial. Stock features a swept right hand cheekpiece w/ circular relief carved acanthus pinwheel at termination. Other furniture is of iron. CONDITION: fair. Bbls. appear to have been painted w/ a heavy coat of black lacquer. Other metal parts are dark gray patina w/ considerable pitting. Stock refinished & has evidence of a lg. number of repairs in grip area. Mechanically good. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19081/MGM). ANTIQUE. $2,500-4,000.
