TIPPING & LAWDEN'S PATENT BY P. WEBLEY & SON. Cal. 12 Ga., 2-1/2". S# 14623. The 26" stub damascus barrels are engraved "P. Webley & Son St. James's London." on narrow game rib. Barrel flats are stamped with S#'s and winged projectile logos. Bottoms of barrels are stamped with London proofs. Round bodied trigger plate action with Purdey underbolt (Patent use # 1123) stamped on watertable is fitted with tall round bodied hammers which are brought to half cock with forward push on lever over guard. Action was designed in 1876 and is engraved with about 50% coverage well cut scroll. Maker's name is on each lockplate. S# is on trigger guard tang. Nicely streaked European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 3/16" over steel buttplate. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching splinter forend has forward pivoting lever release. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 11 oz. CONDITION: good with some refinishing. Barrels retaining traces of their original brown. Action and locks show cleaning to pewter gray. Stocks with old oil refinish.
