SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER, STOCK, & SNAIL DRUM MAGAZINE. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 2159c. Bbl. 7 7/8". LP.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol originally mfg. by DWM in 1918 for the Imperial German military and subsequently retained under the Treaty of Versailles. The top of the bbl. extension is marked "1920/ 1918", with an unusual sole crowned "T" proof, followed by an Imperial German Reichsadler stamped on the right, possibly indicating that the bbl. extension was a DWM produced spare or replacement. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish, with some smaller components exhibiting a straw or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. All numbers are matching (with the exception of the grips and wood bottom mag.) and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., rear sight assembly, bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, and toggles. MAGS: 1 8-rd. and an imperially proofed Second Model 1 32-rd. Trommel "Snail Drum" mag. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster marked "SCHWARZENBURGER/ CO./ NURNBERG/ 1915" on the interior of the closure flap, containing an imperially proof takedown tool and a cleaning rod. Holster is accompanied by a flat board shoulder stock. CONDITION: very good, with rust blued components retaining the majority of their period arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas, as well as some light surface oxidation overall. Strawed components exhibit varying degrees of wear and thinning, with scattered spots of age related discoloration present overall. Excellent bore, exhibiting some spots of light pitting and what what appears to be grease in the grooves, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit smoothing and some some scattered nicks and marks to the diamonds, but are otherwise good overall. Trommel mag. exhibits pitting and scattered spots of mild surface oxidation, but otherwise is very good overall. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting scattered marks from handling and storage, with a few areas of light age related cracking. Stock is very good overall. A very attractive and interestingly marked DWM double date LP.08 Luger, complete with a desirable assortment of accessories. (24-1888/MLW). CURIO. $3,000-4,500.
