ACTION MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 6.5 Carcano. S# BD4844. Bbl. 17 3/4". The bbl. has octagonal reinforcement, marked on top "BRESCIA". Marked on the top right flat "1918". Marked on right flat with "S.T.". Tangent rear sight adj. to 1500 meters. Inverted "V" front sight mounted on dovetail base. Turn-down bolt handle. Late-type nosecap. Cleaning rod is present. Side and bottom swivels. Hardwood stock set. Buttstock has prominent boxed "crown" over "FAG (Fabbrica Armi Gardone)". Correct Model 1891 carbine brown leather sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 11 3/4" fullered blade Model 1891 bayonet, marked only with "H 582" on crossguard. Smooth hardwood grips. Leather scabbard with metal tip in throat and green-colored leather frog. Bayonet and scabbard are in very good condition, retaining most of their arsenal rework finish. Frog is worn yet stitching is tight. CONDITION: stock set has original finish with a coat of added finish over wear and staining. Metal has arsenal rework blue finish with thinning and light wear. Receiver shows notable polishing and pitting under blue. Bore has strong lands, turning dark in grooves. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Mark Ivey Godfrey. (24-5287/RW). CURIO. $200-300.
