MILITARY REPEATING RIFLE. Cal. 10.35x47 Centerfire. S# BF5559. Numbers match on bbl. & buttstock. Bbl. 34". These rifles were mfg. originally as the Model 1870 single-shot. A large number were converted to use the Vitali 4 rd mag. This example retains crisp markings & a significant amount of its original finish. Tangent rear sight adj. to 1,800 meters. Inverted V front sight. Receiver is unmarked. Bbl. markings on octagonal reinforce include the "P.P." indicating interchangeable parts, "TORINO" in oval & partial date "188?". Walnut stock w/ roundel marking on right side "ARTIGA FAB. D'ARMI TORINO 1882". Forend has two split bands retained by band springs. Cleaning rod is present. Bayonet lug on right side of bbl. CONDITION: stock set has good appearance & legible markings w/ the wear & handling marks associated w/ a service rifle of this age. The metal parts retain 70% original blue w/ wear & light oxidation. Receiver has notable patina. Bore has a degree of shine w/ sharp lands, but scattered pitting throughout. (01-26086/RW). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
