Cal. 12 ga., 2 3/4". S# 61281. Ithacas are among the scarcest of WWII military shotguns. In early 1942, the Ordnance Department determined that Ithaca best served the war effort by concentrating on production of the Model 1911 A1 pistol; therefore, no further shotgun orders were placed after the original 1941 contracts were completed. Bbl. 20" with cylinder bore, 6 row handguard and bayonet lug. Barrel has "P" proof on left side of breech. Plain unengraved action has flaming bomb ordnance mark and "RLB" inspectors mark on left side. Blue finish. Small round grooved forearm and pistol grip walnut stock with original buttplate. Boyt leather military sling on original swivels. Barrel and receiver numbers match, as do the numbers found at the inside head of the stock. CONDITION: 90% original blue showing slide wear with scattered scratches and spotting. Forearm has lightly worn finish. Refinished stock is broken and repaired at head. Very good bright bore. (22-4413/DS). CURIO. $3,000-4,500.
