Cal. 8 Bore (.860). NSN. Bbls. 36" of stub twist steel having Birmingham proof marks. Lg. brass bead. Dbl. platinum bands at breech. "J. C. Grubb" marked locks have engraved scenes featuring pheasants w/ scroll highlights & fancy borders. Scroll engraving continues to hammers, standing breech and fancy finial trigger guard. Half length straight grip walnut held by 2 bolts w/ German silver escutcheons & engraved nose cap. Stock features a checkered wrist w/ German silver thumb shield marked "M. G. / 2". Right side of stock has an engraved German silver circular lid patch box. LOP: 14 1/8" w/ steel shotgun butt. Brass tipped ebony ramrod held by 2 plain iron pipes. Weight: 16 lbs., 6 oz. CONDITION: metal has mottled gray brown appearance w/ light pitting. Stock has added varnish over wear & handling marks w/ cracks & repaired chips around locks. Left lock is not functioning properly. Dark pitted bores. (01-18082/DS). ANTIQUE. $900-1,500.
